Construction de réseaux géniques de régulation exploitant la variabilité naturelle d’Arabidopsis thaliana

EcoNet program aims at identifying regulatory modules in gene networks that have evolved in Arabidopsis thaliana natural ecotypes in order to adapt NO3—‐ nutrition to fluctuating environment. The use of natural variation is now extensively used to decipher gene functions through Genome Wide Association Mapping (GWAM) (for details see : (Weigel, 2012)). Here we decided to probe a subset of the Norborg ecotype collection (a core collection of (...)

TAFER T1 – Modèles de croissance

Contribution of plant characteristics to ecologically realistic understanding and visualization of embankment vegetation changes over time after the development of linear land transport infrastructure. Case of vegetation in Mediterranean context.

The TAFER project aimed to study different aspects of the temporal dynamics of vegetation along linear land transport infrastructures in the Mediterranean region in order to feed realistic and dynamic visualization models and tools over time. The vegetation surveys on the railway embankments showed that the species that spontaneously colonize the embankments are dominant in the early years following the construction of the infrastructure. (...)

Cotton cultivation is essentially rain fed, and irregular rainfall patterns expose cotton farmers to adverse effects on crop yields and fiber quality. A better understanding of the morphological and genetic basis of drought tolerance in cotton and the identification of reliable agro-physiological traits relevant for use in plant breeding would aid in improving the efficiency of breeding for this complex (...)

Coupling photon and proton imaging : towards a 3D functional imaging in plant

The project has allowed the development of three new imaging methods providing additional and complementary informations on the location and the mobility of the water inside the plant: -a method of MRI imaging allowing the visualization of the water in the plant and its mobility with a tissular and subcellular resolution a 3D tomo-histology method allowing to image anatomy with a focus on tissues involved in water transport (vessels) (...)

Creation of a virtual multimedia exhibition on the diversity of cultivated plants

Informing the general public about the challenges of agronomic research is an important mission. An exhibition on the agrobiodiversity of 10 crops, presented in the form of a series of posters, was produced in 2015 by the IRD Communication Department, with the support of the DIADE scientific unit and financial support from the AfriCrop and ARCAD projects. However, the format of this exhibition does not lend itself well to the current dynamic (...)

Cryopreservation of threatened American plants

This project aimed at developing cryopreservation protocols for in vitro shoot tips of vanilla and Clinopodium odorum using new, vitrification-based techniques. In case of Clinopodium, we applied the vitrification (V) cryo-plate protocol for cryopreservation of in vitro-derived shoot tips. We studied the recovery of shoot tips after modification of various parameters of the V cryo-plate protocol, including sucrose concentration in the (...)

De l’idée du produit jusqu’à l’usine Goodfood (ou EFood ou BeFood)

We propose to develop a distance learning program of good practices for agro-food industry conception in Southern countries, in order to disseminate these courses to a large and various public. Using ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), creating tools for skills exchange and communication, allows demultiplying training periods and reducing the cost of it for the (...)

Deciphering genetic and environmental effects on apple tree responses to water deprivation scenarios

In the face of increasing water scarcity, adapting breeding programs to target crops for more efficient water use is crucial. This requires a comprehensive knowledge of the plant physiological responses to drought, including the regulation of water status in plant tissues (by stomatal closure) and the determinants of water-use efficiency (the ratio of carbon gain to water use). These challenging questions have been scarcely studied in (...)
