The laureates of the 2021 edition of the Louis Malassis Prize, the Olam Prize and the Shift Prize will receive their awards at the 3rd Agroecology Europe Forum in Barcelona on Thursday 18 November in the presence of international scientists.
The Agropolis Fondation Louis Malassis international scientific prize has been in existence since 2010 and takes place every two years. Since 2015, Agropolis Fondation has partnered with Olam, and the Malassis prizes are awarded along with the Olam Prize for Innovation in Food Security. In 2020, Biovision, a Swiss-based foundation working on agroecology and sustainable agricultural development decided to join by adding the Shift prize for Transformative Agroecological Research for Development. “These three Prizes are intended to reward those who have made an exemplary contribution, through their training, research or development, to promoting innovations to improve sustainable agricultural and food production systems. The ambition is to help meet the food challenge and fight poverty across the globe.” said Dr Marie-Christine Cormier Salem, Director of Agropolis Fondation.
Agroecology Europe (AEEU), whose 3rd Forum is being held in Barcelona from 17 to 19 November, is in line with the ambition of the international scientific prizes Agropolis Fondation, Olam and Shift. The aim of the Forum is to bring together farmers, universities, civil society actors, local administrations and non-governmental organisations to exchange and engage in a global reflection on agroecological practices, food systems and sustainable agricultural policies.
Registration for the forum is open until 9 November 2021.
The laureates of the three prizes will be hosted in Montpellier in the days leading up to the ceremony so that they can present their work to our founding members and meet our scientific community.
