Agropolis Fondation is a fondation de coopération scientifique, recognized as a public utility, created in 2007 by CIRAD, INRA [to become Inrae in 2020] and Montpellier SupAgro [to become L’institut Agro in 2020], joined in 2008 by IRD, and in 2018 by the University of Montpellier.
Its overall mission is to support the development and dissemination of knowledge through research and higher education. Historically at the service of players in agriculture and sustainable development, it is now broadening its scope to include health and the environment, in an interdisciplinary approach.
The Foundation is based in Montpellier, at the heart of the Agropolis International site. It draws on a world-class scientific network of over 1,600 researchers and teacher-researchers, with a specific focus on tropical and Mediterranean regions.
Agropolis Fondation has been ISO 9001 certified for all its activities since 2011.
These five charter members are key actors in agricultural research and higher education as well as in international scientific cooperation.
