The University of Montpellier (UM) has almost 47 000 students and 4 800 staff members. It obtained I-SITE certification – Initiatives-Science-Innovation-Territories-Economy) for the Montpellier University of Excellence (MUSE) project, which it coordinates alongside 18 partners. With its three-pronged objective of to feed, to cure and to protect, the MUSE project draws on all of the scientific fields covered by UM and its partners.
Throughout its 800 years of existence, the University of Montpellier has never ceased to meet scientific and societal challenges. Building on its 16 faculties, schools or institutes, as well as its 77 research structures, UM brings together a vast community of knowledge: science, technology, physical and sports activities, medicine, pharmacy, law, political science, economics and management. UM thus enjoys international recognition in a wide range of scientific fields such as biology and health, agri-environment, chemistry, information and communication sciences and technologies, law, etc.
