Who doesn’t use Pl@ntNet today?
A participatory digital tool in the form of a simple smartphone or tablet app for identifying a plant.
This project has been developed since 2015, as part of the Floris’Tic initiative, aimed at promoting the scientific, technical and industrial culture of plant sciences. Funded to the tune of €2M by the Agence Nationale de la Rénovation Urbaine (ANRU), this initiative has led to the creation of a database that today lists more than 37,500 species worldwide, continuing to be enriched in a participative way with every plant photo taken by app users.
The project is currently run by a consortium of Montpellier-based research organizations: INRAE, CIRAD, INRIA and IRD. Pl@ntNet comprises 22 projects: 16 geographical projects, 3 thematic projects on ornamental and cultivated plants, and 3 microprojects.
Agropolis Fondation is responsible for collecting donations.
