cycle Research Society

Goals

Within the framework of a conference cycle entitled "Research in Society" (RenS) organised at the initiative of CIRAD (UR AIDA) in collaboration with MSH-Sud, and benefiting from the scientific and institutional support of several organisations in Montpellier, we propose to organise an event in 2020 on one of the themes identified as necessary by the community of UMR partners of Agropolis Fondation (Workshop on scientific animation of 11-12 July 2019).
In particular, the following should be noted
- for all the Axes, the implementation of transdisciplinary approaches and links between the Montpellier agronomic community and the rest of the scientific community.
• for Axis 1 (Climate change), the mediation of links between the scientific community and society or the response to political requests
• for Axis 2 (Biodiversity), methods for citizen participation and the development of performance indicators, or the consideration and resilience of local knowledge and the relationships between the different types of biodiversity (wild, cultivated, domestic, improved, hybrid, etc.)
• for Axis 3 (Responsible production and consumption), the autonomy of research with respect to society, the development of sustainability indicators, or inclusion in certification policies.
The choice of themes for the two events will be made by the Scientific Committee of the Conference Cycle, based on (i) the quality/availability of speakers and (ii) the shared interest of other institutions in this theme.
The first conference will be organised in April 2020 on the theme of "Science and Trust", in a room of at least 100 people, designed mainly as a reflective space for the Montpellier scientific community. The organisational details will be specified by the Cycle’s Scientific Council, which will hold an ad hoc meeting on 31 January 2020.
